Dentistry is the second most chosen specialisation within the field of medical sciences, after MBBS. BDS is a 5-year undergraduate degree program and is among the other accredited dental courses after 12th in India. The National Eligibility and Entrance Test is used to admit students to BDS programmes in India (NEET). NEET is required to be taken in order to be eligible to undergraduate medical programmes in, such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSc Nursing, and Veterinary courses. This includes the five-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course.
Upon completion of the BDS course and obtaining the certificates and license to practice, a qualified professional can enrol themselves in healthcare institutions or start their own practice.
