NEW DELHI: An 11-year-old boy was left dead and five others were injured in a shooting in the

West End suburb

of Cincinnati on Friday night, according to local police reports, reported the New York Post.
Police were alerted to the sound of gunfire just before 9:30 pm and arrived at the scene to find six individuals with varying degrees of injuries. Cincinnati Police Chief

Terri Theetge

confirmed that the 11-year-old boy, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to local reports.

Details about the ages and identities of the other victims have not been released to the public. Three of the injured were rushed to

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center

, all in critical condition upon their arrival. One of the patients was discharged overnight, while the other two remained hospitalized.
The remaining two victims were transported to the

University of Cincinnati Hospital

and were released on Saturday, their conditions reported as stable.

As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding potential suspects or the motive behind the shooting. Police Chief Terri Theetge expressed her dismay over the incident, saying, "This is absolutely unacceptable in our city — unacceptable that on a Friday night, six people were shot in one incident. It is not humane to pull out a firearm and shoot individuals recklessly."
