24-year-old counsellor charged with having sex with teenager client, arrested

NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old Ohio social worker was on Friday arrested for allegedly having

sex

with a 13-year-old child she was supposed to be counseling, as per local reports.
Reports state that Payton Shires admitted to the sexual contact during a three-way call between her, the boy's mother, and the police, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
According to the newspaper, which cited court records, the boy's mother reported unusual text messages from Shires to police on September 27 after discovering them on the 13-year-old's smartphone.
According to court documents, police discovered a video of the teen and Shires engaging in sexual intercourse, on the phone. The adolescent also reportedly admitted to having sexual contact with Shires in Columbus in September at various locations.

Shires is being held on a $50,0,000 bond. Her upcoming court date is set for October 16, according to online records.
Shires formerly worked for the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP), which offers advocacy, social work, and counseling to families with children in foster care. When Shires left her position with the company is unknown.
