Ratan Tata believed that businesses should not only focus on profits but also give back to society. He was known for his philanthropic works-- be it supporting causes like education and healthcare, or financially supporting his 80 employees and their families who were affected in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

From launching cars like Tata Indica and Nano to going global, Mr Tata believed in taking calculated risks to grow over the years. "The biggest risk is not taking any risk. In a world that is changing quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks," he said.
