Akshay on the failure of Mission Raniganj

Akshay Kumarhas been part of the movies for more than three decades now and has delivered multiple hits, but in the post-pandemic world the actor is struggling to deliver a blockbuster. Post pandemic the actor has delivered only two successful films - Sooryavanshi and OMG 2. His latest film Mission Raniganj: A Great Bharat Rescue has earned only Rs 20 crore at the box office which had a budget of more than Rs 100 crore.

Defending the survival thriller drama, Akshay accepted that Mission Raniganj is not a non-commercial entertainer but one of his best projects. He told Times Now Navbharat, "It is not a commercial film. It has not earned as much as it should have earned. But, I have come here knowing that the film has not done well, to own the film–and I have done some 150 films by now–and say that this is one of my best films."
The list of Akshay’s flop films in the last two years has been quite long, from historical Samrat Prithviraj to actioner Bachchan Panday and from quasi-historical Ram Setu to Hindi remake of Malayalam hit film Selfiee and family drama Raksha Bandhan. However in the coming time, Akshay is hoping to gain lost ground with his films like Soorarai Pottru remake , Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with

Tiger Shroff

and Dinesh Vijan’s Sky Force with Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan. Akshay also has Welcome to the Jungle which will see him reuniting with his old friends like

Suniel Shetty

, Paresh Rawal , Raveen Tandaon, Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta.
