Jeff Bezos has found himself on the receiving end of social media trolls after reports claimed he turned down a performance by Lady Gaga for a rather surprising reason. Rumours doing the rounds early this week, claimed that both Lady Gaga and Elton John had been approached to perform at Bezos' wedding to Lauren Sanchez in Venice.
Both superstars reportedly quoted a hefty $6 million price tag for each of their performances, which, according to the viral reports, Bezos declined the offer.Following the viral claim, the billionaire was trolled for refusing to shell out "just $6 million." Sharing screenshots of the news reports, netizens asked "What’s the use of being a billionaire if you won’t even book Gaga?" Another said, "They made guests dance to Lady Gaga and Elton John on Spotify.
All because he didn’t want to pay them performance fees.""Imagine being worth a quarter trillion dollars and not spending $6M on Lady Gaga for your wedding," yet another added."Jeff Bezos is a multibillionaire couldn't pay Gaga or Elton John $6 million to perform at the most important night of his life, his own wedding? What an a*****e, he spent more just booking those castles and fortresses in Venice alone to end up using Spotify," said another.
However, as it turns out, the internet may have been reacting to pure fiction. TMZ debunked the speculation, calling the entire story “BS.” Citing insiders close to both music icons, the report clarified that neither Lady Gaga nor Elton John was even approached to perform at the wedding — let alone make any financial demands. The intimate $56 million wedding featured a performance by British singer Ellie Goulding, who sang four to five songs, and Matteo Bocelli, son of legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli, who also took the stage to serenade the bridal couple and their guests. The wedding, held in Venice, was a star-studded celebration attended by the likes of Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and actress Sydney Sweeney, among others.
