Ever since the trailer was released, Kangana Ranaut helmed and starrer '

Emergency

' has been facing flak for its alleged 'anti-sikh' narrative. After the The

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee

sent a notice to the film's makers, BJP National Secretary

Manjinder Singh Sirsa

has also opposed the movie.
According to The Print, Sirsa has requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to remove scenes that inaccurately depict Sikh history and cast it in a negative light.

He emphasized that no film should portray any community in a disparaging manner. The BJP leader was further quoted in the report, "People tend to think that the whole party has the same sentiment, which isn’t the case. Whatever needs to be communicated (with context to the film) to the party high command has already been done."
The Shiromani Akali Dal's Delhi unit has also called on the CBFC to stop the release of the Kangana Ranaut-starrer, arguing that it could incite communal tension and spread misinformation. Their Delhi president, Paramjit Singh Sarna, in his letter to the board, reproduced by PTI, stated, "Given the potential of this film to incite communal tensions and spread misinformation, I strongly urge the CBFC to exercise its authority to prevent its release. A thick line must be drawn between the right to freedom of speech and the propagation of hateful content that threatens the harmony of our society."
Previously, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) issued a legal notice to actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut and the producers of 'Emergency', alleging distortion of Sikh history in the film. Spokesperson SGPC Gurcharan Singh Grewal said, "Kangana Ranaut, who is known for creating new controversies in the midst of controversies, today she arrived in the parliament and the BJP has shrugged off her statements. A notice was sent today to Kangana Ranaut and the people who released that film. The trailer that came, which was seen by the people, should be removed from all platforms and an apology should be sought for this."
