CBSE conducts surprise inspections across 5 states, finds many schools violating these board's affiliation bylaws, check details here

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted surprise inspections at 29 schools across six regions on December 18 and 19, 2024, as part of its commitment to maintaining high educational standards. The inspections took place in Delhi on December 18, and in Bengaluru, Patna, Bilaspur, Varanasi, and Ahmedabad on December 19, 2024.
The primary aim of these inspections was to assess compliance with CBSE’s norms and Affiliation By-Laws. The inspection teams focused on verifying student enrollment records, infrastructure facilities, and the overall functioning of the schools.
A total of 29 teams, each comprising a CBSE officer and a principal from an affiliated school, conducted these inspections. The inspections were carried out in a coordinated manner within a limited time frame to maintain the element of surprise and ensure accurate findings.

Findings from the Inspections

The inspections revealed that a majority of the schools violated CBSE’s Affiliation By-Laws by enrolling students who were not actually attending classes, effectively creating "non-attending" enrollments. Additionally, several schools were found to be non-compliant with the board's infrastructural norms.
CBSE has taken these violations seriously and is in the process of issuing show-cause notices to the schools found in breach of regulations. The board is also considering legal action against the defaulting schools.
