Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have consistently lit up the big screen with their unmatched chemistry—from their iconic debut in ‘Om Shanti Om’ to crowd-pullers like ‘Chennai Express,’ ‘Pathaan,’ and ‘Jawan.’ Now, the power duo is all set to reunite once again in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming action thriller ‘King.’
Deepika to play Suhana Khan’s mother
As reported by PeepingMoon, Deepika has been brought on for an extended cameo in the film, but don’t let that fool you. Her character is deeply woven into the plot and holds the key to the film’s emotional and dramatic core as she is set to step into the role of Suhana Khan’s on-screen mother.
“Her character is integral to the plot and serves as the primary conflict in the storyline,” the report revealed. “Both Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand were keen on casting Deepika for this special character, and she enthusiastically accepted the offer despite it not being a full-fledged lead role.” This unexpected casting move adds emotional layers to an already gripping story, making Deepika’s role one to watch closely.
SRK and Deepika: The dream team
‘King’ marks the sixth collaboration between Shah Rukh and Deepika and their third in a row following the hits ‘Pathaan,’ and ‘Jawan.’ Their on-screen bond continues to evolve with each film—and in ‘King,’ it takes a more mature, intense direction. The duo is also rumored to reunite again next year for YRF’ much-anticipated ‘Pathaan 2.’ Clearly, their partnership isn’t going anywhere any time soon, and fans are thrilled.
‘King’: A gritty new chapter
While the makers haven’t revealed full plot details yet, PeepingMoon describes ‘King’ as a revenge-driven action thriller that echoes the tone of the 2000 film ‘Bichhoo,’ which itself was loosely inspired by the French classic ‘Léon: The Professional’ (1994). In ‘King,’ SRK is expected to play a deadly assassin who partners with a young girl, played by his real-life daughter Suhana Khan, after her life is shattered by a tragedy.
Saif Ali Khan and Tabu were being considered to play Suhana Khan’s parents
The report also revealed that ‘King’ has gone through major changes since Sujoy Ghosh left the project and Siddharth Anand took over as director. What started out as a tense, fast-paced thriller with Shah Rukh appearing only in a brief role has now turned into a full-scale SRK action film. It now features everything fans expect from a Siddharth Anand entertainer—action-packed scenes, emotional drama, and a touch of romance. At one point, Saif Ali Khan and Tabu were being considered to play Suhana Khan’s parents, but those plans were dropped as the story took a new shape.
Deepika’s casting brings even more star power to this already big project, boosting excitement for the latest SRK and Siddharth Anand film. Abhishek Bachchan will be seen as the main villain, adding intensity to the story, while Abhay Verma, known for ‘Munjya,’ has an important role too.
When will ‘King’ hit screens?
The film’s pre-production is currently in full swing, with shooting expected to begin next month in Mumbai. If all goes as planned, ‘King’ is set for a grand theatrical release in late 2026.
