NEW DELHI: Thousands of Gaza residents forcibly entered UNRWA's warehouses and distribution centers, where they seized essential items like flour and other survival provisions, according to the organization. UNRWA also noted that the "civil order" in the region is beginning to deteriorate.
"This is a worrying sign that civil order is starting to break down after three weeks of war and a tight siege on Gaza," the

United Nations Relief and Works Agency

for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said in a statement, as per Reuters.

In Deir al-Balah, there is a warehouse where UNRWA stores humanitarian supplies received from convoys coming into Gaza from Egypt. These aid shipments intended for Gaza have been inaccessible since Israel initiated its bombardment of the Gaza Strip in response to an attack by the militant group Hamas on October 7.
"Supplies on the market are running out while the humanitarian aid coming into the Gaza Strip on trucks from Egypt is insufficient," UNRWA said.

UNRWA reported that the existing system for facilitating humanitarian convoys into Gaza is designed to fail. The organization also noted that its ability to provide assistance in Gaza has been hampered by air strikes, resulting in the loss of more than 50 of its staff and limitations on the movement of supplies.
UNRWA's services, including schools, primary healthcare, and humanitarian aid, are delivered in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. The Israel-Hamas War began on October 7, 2023, after a surprise attack by the militant group, resulting in casualties and hostage situations. Israel has since imposed a "complete siege" on Gaza.
