Donald Trump

launched a midnight attack on

Pennsylvania Governor

Josh Shapiro after Shapiro criticised him at the

Democratic National Convention

on Wednesday night. Trump labelled Shapiro as the “highly overrated Jewish Governor” and claimed Shapiro refused to acknowledge his contributions to

Israel

.

Trump's post regarding Josh Shapiro on Truth Social

Taking the matter to the social media platform

Truth Social

, he wrote in the post, “The highly overrated Jewish Governor of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, made a really bad and poorly delivered speech talking about freedom and fighting for Comrade

Kamala Harris

for President, yet she hates Israel and will do nothing but make its journey through the complexities of survival as difficult as possible, hoping in the end that it will fail.

Judge only by her actions! Yet Shapiro, for strictly political reasons, refused to acknowledge that I am the best friend that Israel, and the Jewish people, ever had. I have done more for Israel than any President, and frankly, I have done more for Israel than any person, and it’s not even close. Shapiro has done nothing for Israel, and never will. Comrade Kamala Harris, the Radical Left Marxist who stole the nomination from Crooked Joe, will do even less. Israel is in BIG trouble!”
Trump emphasised that Shapiro, who holds no

foreign policy

role as governor, “has done nothing for Israel and never will.” The former president contended he has done more for Israel than any other President or individual.

“Shapiro, for strictly political reasons, refused to acknowledge that I am the best friend that Israel, and the Jewish people, ever had,” Trump wrote on Truth Social just after midnight. “I have done more for Israel than any President, and frankly, I have done more for Israel than any person, and it’s not even close.”
Trump also asserted that Vice President Kamala Harris “hates Israel” and desires its failure.
Critics have condemned Trump's post, with many labelling it as

antisemitic

.

Despite the backlash, Trump remains steadfast in his defence of his record on Israel and positions himself as the most supportive leader the country has ever had, in contrast to what he portrays as the ineffectiveness of his political rivals.
Earlier today, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, speaking at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, cautioned that former President Trump could strip away Americans' rights and freedoms if elected in November. Shapiro emphasised that Trump's portrayal of freedom is misleading, stating, "While he cloaks himself in the blanket of freedom, what he’s offering isn’t freedom at all."
He argued that dictating children’s reading material, controlling women's reproductive rights, and manipulating electoral outcomes are contrary to the true concept of freedom, positioning the Democratic party as the true proponent of real freedom.
Notably, a few days back Trump alleged that John Shapiro wasn’t picked up by Kamala Harris as her vice-presidential pick because he was Jewish and was discriminated for it. Responding to his sensational claims, Harris-Walz's campaign rejected it, claiming the claim to be baseless. Shapiro also slammed the allegations stating Donald Trump has no credibility to speak on this issue.
