For the first time in Malayalam cinema history, a film has achieved this milestone solely through advance bookings. Mohanlal’s much-anticipated action thriller L2: Empuraan has stormed into the Rs 50 crore club on its opening day.

The film is being screened across 750 theatres in Kerala alone, marking one of the biggest releases in the industry. Reports indicate that the Malayalam version has received the highest number of advance bookings. Meanwhile, the censor formalities for the film’s four other language versions were completed yesterday, paving the way for a wider release.

Mohanlal shared the advance booking update via an Instagram post. To cross Rs 80 crores
Aas per Manorama Online reports, ‘Empuraan’ is expected to cross Rs 80 crore in global box office collections over its opening weekend. With movie lovers worldwide eagerly awaiting its release, ‘Empuraan’ is set to become one of the grandest spectacles Malayalam cinema has ever witnessed.
About the film
‘L2: Empuraan’ is the continuation of the superhit action drama movie ‘Lucifer’ which marked the directorial debut of Prithviraj Sukumaran. With a suspense cameo cast and several other foreign actors including the ‘Game of Thrones’ fame Jerome Flynne, ‘L2: Empuraan’ is surely a grand spectacle. The movie is expected to mark the comeback of Mohanlal who had several underwhelming films recently. ‘L2: Empuraan’ marks the third directorial venture of Prithviraj Sukumaran and the script is penned by Murali Gopi. Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju warrier, Saniya Iyappan and many others play pivotal roles in the film.
