Fan goes wild imitating cheerleaders during IPL match

NEW DELHI: Cricket has a unique way of evoking passionate responses from its fans, and sometimes, that passion spills over in quirky fashion. During the IPL 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, an unusual scene unfolded in the stands.

In a moment that drew as much laughter as surprise, an enthusiastic fan leapt from his seat and began imitating the cheerleaders' dance moves near the boundary rope.While his antics entertained a section of the crowd, they didn’t sit well with security personnel. A police officer quickly intervened, putting an end to the impromptu performance before it escalated further.

The off-field drama aside, the contest on the pitch delivered its share of fireworks.

Teenager Vaibhav Suryavanshi starred with a stylish 33-ball 57 as Rajasthan Royals chased down a target of 188 with remarkable ease, clinching a six-wicket win to close their campaign on a positive note.

Skipper Sanju Samson (41), Yashasvi Jaiswal (36), and a blazing cameo by Dhruv Jurel (31* off 12) provided vital support in the successful chase, completed with 17 balls to spare.

Earlier, CSK had stumbled to 78 for five despite a fiery 43 off 20 balls from Ayush Mhatre. A recovery effort by Dewald Brevis (42) and Shivam Dube (39) pushed their total to 187/8.For RR, Yudhvir Singh (3/47) and Akash Madhwal (3/29) were the standout bowlers.
