Rajapalayams hail from the Tamil Nadu town of Rajapalayam, and hence named so. These are majestic white dogs, and they were originally bred for guarding and hunting purposes. Due to their striking appearance of a white coat, pink nose, and golden eyes, they are often also called "Ghost Hound." For the unversed, Rajapalayams were once prized by Indian royalty for their loyalty and bravery in battle. They are highly protective of their families which makes them excellent watchdogs.

Tangkhul Hui (Indian bear dog)

The Tangkhul Hui is a rare and little-documented dog breed that looks like an Indian bear, and hence commonly also called the Indian Bear Dog. They belong to the Tangkhul Naga tribe in Manipur, Northeast India, and hence named so. They are hardy dogs and traditionally they were used as loyal hunting companions in the mountainous terrains of the region. Their thick coat and agile frame, helps them adapt to the mountain regions easily. However, Tangkhul Hui are rare dog breeds outside North East India.
