PANAJI: The state government on Thursday made a year’s
work experience
mandatory for those seeking employment in the government sector.
Applicants will need that experience as an apprentice under the Apprentices Act or in a government department, organisation, office, or institute; or in a semi-government organisation, office, or institute. Also considered will be such experience in a factory/company or in any other private establishment where no fewer than five persons are employed.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant
told TOI that youth will have to take up employment in any sector, including government, to get an experience certificate to apply for a regular post in government departments.
“Earlier, experience was not mandatory to get government jobs. Now, youth will have to work to gain experience,” the chief minister said.
This change is aimed at ensuring that candidates applying for government jobs possess practical experience, which can enhance their qualifications and skills, ultimately benefitting the public sector. It emphasizes the importance of gaining hands-on knowledge in real-world work environments and aligns with the government's goal of recruiting individuals who are better equipped to contribute effectively to public service.
