Google Pixel 10 series will keep this important connectivity feature despite modem swap

Google's upcoming Pixel 10 family will be using the Tensor G5 chipset, manufactured by TSMC, and since it's switching from Samsung's foundry, it will also switch modems. No more Exynos, the Pixel 10 devices are due to get the MediaTek T900.

You may have been wondering whether the new modem would affect the next-gen Pixels' ability to connect to satellites, and the answer seems to be no, based on a new teardown of the Adaptive Connectivity Services app.

Code in this app does reference Pixel 10 handsets (identified by previously matched codenames) having Satellite SOS capabilities, so it's all good on this front, nothing will change.

In the code snippet above, GLBW0 is the Pixel 10, G4QUR is the Pixel 10 Pro, and GUL82 is the Pixel 10 Pro XL. While the Pixel 10 Pro Fold isn't listed here, that doesn't necessarily mean anything - it can always be added to the code later.

According to a recent leak, the Pixel 10 will be offered in Obsidian, Blue, Iris, and Limoncello, while the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL will be available in Obsidian, Green, Sterling, and Porcelain.
