Housefull 5 all set to beat Raid 2 as 2nd biggest Hindi film of 2025

Akshay Kumar is on the brink of reclaiming his box office dominance with the roaring success of Housefull 5. The latest installment in the long-running comedy franchise has minted an impressive Rs 170 crore at the domestic box office since its release on June 6.

The film is now just a few crores away from overtaking Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2, which currently stands at Rs 173.09 crore, to become the second-biggest Hindi hit of the year so far.

The momentum for Housefull 5 has been solid, with fans of the franchise turning up in large numbers. Despite the pre-release skepticism and mixed reviews the film has managed to deliver exactly what the audience expected — over-the-top humour, grand visuals, and Akshay Kumar’s signature comic timing.However, towering above both these films is Vicky Kaushal’s historical action drama Chaava, which remains the undisputed box office king of 2025. The film shattered records with a phenomenal Rs 585.7 crore in its Hindi version alone and a staggering Rs 601.57 crore across all languages, making it one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time and the biggest hit of 2025.Back in the current race, Housefull 5 has shown remarkable consistency over weekdays and strong weekend holds.

Trade analysts note that the film has sustained better in mass belts compared to Raid 2, which witnessed a sharper drop after a strong opening week.If Housefull 5 continues at its present pace, it’s likely to surpass Raid 2 by Saturday itself and could eventually wrap up its run beyond the Rs 180 crore mark. While Chaava remains unchallenged at the top by a considerable margin, this milestone will be a much-needed win for Akshay Kumar, whose recent box office outings have had a mixed reception.For now, it’s a tight race for the second and third spots, but all signs point to Housefull 5 soon marching past Raid 2, bringing back the laughs — and the numbers — for both Akshay Kumar and Bollywood’s comedy franchise space.
