Team India put up yet another clinical performance as they outplayed South Africa by 243 runs in a 2023 World Cup contest `in Kolkata on Sunday.
Sunday was a special day for Virat Kohli, as he got to a record-equalling 49th ODI century on what was his 35th birthday. With 49 tons in the 50-over format, Kohli went level with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who had finished his career with the same number of hundreds in ODIs.

Kohli was involved in a 134-run stand with Shreyas Iyer (77) for the third wicket. That partnership played a pivotal part in the Men in Blue getting to 326/5 after having lost Rohit Sharma (40) and Shubman Gill (23).
In reply, South Africa lacked confidence as well as big partnerships, as they were bundled out for just 83 in 27.1 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of 5/33, while Mohammed Siraj (1/11), Mohammed Shami (2/18) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/7) also chipped in with wickets.
The win also helped India top the points table, with one game to go for the hosts in the round-robin stage.
