After a flying start in its opening week, Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda’s action-packed film 'Jaat' has now slowed down. The film had a powerful start, but its
box office
collections have started to drop towards the end of the second week. With Emraan Hashmi’s brand new release '
Ground Zero
' entering cinemas and Akshay Kumar’s '
Kesari Chapter 2
' still pulling in the crowds, 'Jaat' now faces some serious competition.
Jaat Movie Review
Second week is still strong, but signs of a slowdown
Released on 10 April 2025, 'Jaat' opened with great energy. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the action drama grabbed a lot of attention thanks to its high-octane action scenes and the solid fan following of Sunny Deol and his action hero image, along with a good performance from Randeep Hooda.
Jaat Box Office collection day 15
Even in its second week, 'Jaat' held on quite well. By the end of day 14 (Wednesday, 23 April), the film had managed to collect Rs. 1.35 crore. However, on day 15 (Thursday, 24 April), the numbers dipped to around Rs. 1.25 crore, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. This brings the film’s total collection to Rs. 80.75 crore.
The drop might not seem huge, but it does suggest that audience interest could be slowly fading. In fact, the film’s Hindi occupancy on Thursday was just 7.90%, showing that fewer people are heading to the cinemas to watch it.
Fresh competition from 'Ground Zero' ?
The dip in 'Jaat’s' numbers also has a lot to do with the new competition at the box office. Akshay Kumar’s 'Kesari Chapter 2' is still going strong, offering stiff rivalry. Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi’s latest release 'Ground Zero' will arrive in cinemas today.
While the advance booking for 'Ground Zero' has been weak, according to Pinkvilla, with only around 4,000 tickets sold in top national chains, the film is expected to rely more on word of mouth and its performance across the weekend. Whether or not 'Ground Zero' picks up, it could still eat into 'Jaat’s' audience share, especially among those looking for fresh content.
Can 'Jaat' still join the Rs. 100 crore club?
That’s the big question is will 'Jaat' be able to reach the golden Rs. 100 crore mark? There’s no doubt the film had a fantastic start and a solid second week. But with its numbers dropping and new films releasing every week, it’s going to be a tough climb from Rs. 80.75 crore to Rs. 100 crore. The coming weekend could be make-or-break.
