Jimmy Shergill is one of the finest actors in the movie business and over the years with his performances in films like

Maachis Mohabbatein

, Tanu Weds Manu,

De De Pyaar De

etc, he has proven that the length of the role doesn’t matter to him. He delivers, no matter how small or big his role is. But despite all this he believes that he isn't compensated adequately for his hard work.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Jimmy shared that he deserves more money than he’s been offered right now for the kind of hard work he puts in the art.

He also explained that the situation is partly a result of the image he has cultivated over the years.

He stated that he has always been a bit experimental since the beginning of his career and had this urge to do something different and take on good roles, even if they had limited screen time or weren't very substantial. He also added that he worked in roles where the makers didn't have sufficient funds for actor fees. But this has created an impression that he's willing to work for free.
Despite these challenges, Shergill focuses on his enjoyment of the work rather than dwelling on compensation-related issues

While Shergill acknowledges that OTT platforms offer artists a space to experiment, he clarified that this isn't the sole reason for his increased involvement in OTT projects. He highlighted that people say that OTT allows you to experiment, but he has always experimented with his roles throughout his career and has always strived to do something different. He added that he started with solo leads and then transitioned to supporting roles because he found them more substantial. He was initially skeptical about taking on supporting roles and not leading roles but looking back, he's happy he took the jump.
