K-Pop Idols who clarified on dating rumours

Dating rumours are usually seen as a delicate topic for K-pop idols. Eagle eyed netizens often end up linking good pals or even complete strangers. And curious fans end up asking about their favourite idols' dating lives during live streams or in the form of comments on their social media posts. K-pop stars like Jungkook and RM from BTS, along with Jeon Somi, a singer and rapper, have boldly fielded these rumours in a playful and quirky manner.

On October 2nd, Jungkook, addressed buzz about his romantic life during a live broadcast, putting an end to speculations that had sparked fervent discussions across various online platforms. The rumours had arisen after a video surfaced on a Chinese social media platform, depicting an individual referred to as "A" and his girlfriend in a luxury villa, sharing intimate moments. The poster claimed that "A" was, in fact, Jungkook, prompting the rapid dissemination of the post within online communities.

Addressing the curiosity, Jungkook clarified, “Because there are too many comments, I’ll just say it now, I don’t have a girlfriend. I don’t have a girlfriend, I’m not dating. I just want to focus on work, so I don’t see the need for dating. I don’t have a girlfriend, so please don’t talk about this anymore. ARMY (fandom name), you can be my girlfriend. I only have ARMYs, so don’t worry.” He further added, “They’re doing it just for attention. I’ll handle haters with love.”

On October 10, BTS's RM hosted a short livestream from his home, where he chatted with the ARMY. While in the middle of the broadcast, he unexpectedly addressed a question about his relationship status. Although RM has playfully dismissed such speculations with humorous responses in the past, he, like his fellow BTS members, has never had a serious conversation about his dating life with ARMY. During the Weverse live broadcast, he read a comment that cheekily asked him that, "introduce your girlfriend." He promptly replied, "“I don’t have a girlfriend. If I had a girlfriend, I would introduce her, but I don’t have one right now. Can you help me find a girlfriend?”

Singer Jeon So-mi, in an SNS live broadcast, playfully tackled a fan's question related to relationships. She quipped, "If I were in a relationship, I probably wouldn’t eat undercooked pasta alone." This isn't the first time Jeon So-mi has spopken about her personal life. Back in August, during an appearance on the TV show 'Witch Hunt 2023', she revealed that her ex-boyfriend had contacted her and revealed, "When in a relationship, he was clingy."
