Karisma Kapoor, born into Bollywood royalty—the legendary Kapoor family—made her big-screen debut back in 1991 with Prem Qaidi. At that point in time, it was said that the women from the Kapoor family weren't allowed to do movies.
In a way, Karisma was the first one which further made way for her sister Kareena Kapoor Khan. She also attained stardom pretty soon.Since she belonged to this lineage, one must have thought that she may have taken advice from her famous uncles Shashi Kapoor or Rishi Kapoor who were stars. However, Karisma denied it. In an interview with Lehren, she had said, "We’re a close-knit family, but when it comes to work, everyone does their own thing. It’s not like that.”She made it clear that for her, it’s all about her parents—Randhir and Babita Kapoor. “They’re the ones who matter most. If they’re on board, no one else really needs to say anything,” she said. Professionally, the Kapoor family has a ‘you do you’ kind of vibe, it seems.Naturally, with a last name like Kapoor, all eyes were on her when she started out. But Karisma was super confident. “I won’t let my grandfather, Raj Kapoor, down. That’s a promise,” she said. “I know he’s up there watching over me. I’m not worried. I know what I’ve got to live up to—and I will.”Karisma has been in the news lately as her ex-husband Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12. She married him in 2003 and they got divorced in 2016. Karisma and Sunjay had two children together - Samaira and Kiaan.
