Lara Dutta mourns the loss of her father Wing Commander L.K. Dutta, days after marking 25 Years of Miss Universe win

Lara Dutta is mourning the loss of her father, Wing Commander L. K. Dutta, whose funeral she attended in Mumbai with her husband, Mahesh Bhupathi. Earlier this month, she celebrated the 25th anniversary of her Miss Universe win, which coincided with her father's birthday, with a special pooja. Dutta's upcoming projects include Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan and Welcome to the Jungle.

Bollywood actress Lara Dutta has suffered a heartbreaking loss with the passing of her father, Wing Commander L. K. Dutta. The actress, accompanied by her husband Mahesh Bhupathi, attended the funeral in Mumbai today.Lara was spotted in a white salwar-kurta, while Mahesh was in a white shirt.Lara was last seen on the big screen in Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom. But she now has a strong line up of films, she will be next seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi- she plays the role of Kaikeyi- step mother to Lord Ram. She also will be sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar once again in Welcome to the Jungle which features a host of names like Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon and many more.Earlier this month the actress completed 25 years of winning the Miss Universe pageant-the day coincided with her father’s birthday and she celebrated the occasion with a pooja.

Taking to Instagram she wrote, “ "Yesterday was a day of roller coaster emotions…..the 12th of May…….. a significant day in my life! Not just my Dad's birthday, but also the day I won Miss Universe, 25 years ago! Time certainly flies!!! Marked the day yesterday with a puja to celebrate my father's life, knowing well how fleeting and fragile life is, it's important to acknowledge and be grateful for the gifts the universe bestows upon us.

Thank you for the love and for your companionship over the last 25 years”

Lara made her debut with Suneel Darshan’s Andaaz which paired her with Akshay Kumar for the first time. The film also marked the beginning of Priyanka Chopra’s career as a Hindi film heroine.
