After making waves on OTT with multiple projects, Kajol made a comeback on the big screen with a horror thriller, ‘Maa.’ Released on June 27, the movie opened with strong numbers and has been trying to maintain a steady pace at the box office.
After a 6-day run at the box office, the movie has come very close to Rs. 25 crore.

Directed by Vishal Furia, according to Sacnilk, the debut weekend collection of ‘Maa’ stood at Rs 17.65 crore. However, the Kajol starrer saw a sharp dip of 64% drop on Monday, and earned Rs 2.5 crore. Nevertheless, the movie saw a slight growth on Tuesday. With a 20 percent rise, the movie minted Rs 3 crore. The business again saw a dip on Wednesday, as per the early estimates.

‘Maa’
Maa follows the story of Ambika, played by Kajol, who, by the unexpected passing of her husband in Chandarpur, West Bengal, goes back to his family home intending to sell it. The village she visits is under the grip of a malevolent curse that requires the sacrifice of her daughter, Shweta (portrayed by Kherin Sharma). Ambika then does everything in her power to save her child and the village from the curse.

With a rating of 3 stars, the TOI review of the movie states - “Kajol delivers a compelling performance as a mother pushed to the edge, balancing vulnerability with fierce resolve.
