Ravi Teja's action-drama ‘Mr Bachchan,’ which hit theatres on August 15, 2024, failed to live up to expectations despite a strong buzz before its release. Directed by Harish Shankar, the film is now available for streaming on Netflix after a disappointing box office performance. The movie, an adaptation of the Hindi film ‘Raid,’ features Ravi Teja as an Income Tax officer tackling a corrupt MP.
Ravi Teja’s action-drama film ‘Mr Bachchan’ despite creating a buzz before its release, the film, directed by Harish Shankar and launched on August 15, 2024, did not meet expectations at the box office. The movie from the silver screen is now available to stream online on Netflix.
The movie is an official remake of the 2018 Hindi film ‘Raid’ starring Ajay Devgn. Though the film has its own Telugu adaptation bringing out its own flair.
The movie follows the story of an Income Tax officer, played by Ravi Teja, who raids the house of a corrupt MP portrayed by Jagapathi Babu. The film also introduces Bhagyashri Borse in her Tollywood debut who plays Ravi Teja’s love interest, Jikki.
Despite the film’s compelling plot and Ravi Teja’s strong following, ‘Mr Bachchan’ struggled to draw audiences to theatres. After 27 days in cinemas, the film is now available for streaming in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
The film also stars Subhalekha Sudhakar, Satya, and Sachin Khedekar, among others.
The lacklustre performance at the box office led to a significant gesture from the film’s team. Reports suggest that Ravi Teja and director Harish Shankar returned a substantial portion of their fees to reduce the film’s financial losses. Ravi Teja reportedly returned Rs. 4 crore, while Harish Shankar gave back Rs. 2 crore.
One of the reasons for the films was also noted to be the heavily crowded release date as multiple films were released on Independence Day.
