Nawaz applied fairness creams out of insecurity

has very successfully created a niche for himself in the film industry with his choices of films and brilliant performances over the years. However, there was a time when he felt insecure about how he looked.
In an interview with BollywoodBubble, the actor revealed that he was insecure in his early days because of the colour of his skin. So he used to apply a lot of creams but nothing changed.

Later, he realised it is what it is.

The actor even went on to add that since others around him perceived him to be a not-so-good looking person, he also believed the same but it changed when he got out of that atmosphere. However, when he went out then he realised that he is okay and that his face is fine.

In the same interview, Nawazuddin also said that the insecurity starts setting in because of the people that are around and that it is very important to be confident about the way one looks. He also added that one has to reach that place where they are confident in their skin and start accepting the way they look.

The actor from Bajrangi Bhaijaan commenced his career during a period when there was a significant division between actors perceived as 'conventional' and those seen as 'unconventional' in appearance. He revealed that he, too, had to contend with this division for nearly a decade.

He said that it took him 10-12 years to prove that he is an actor. But that distinction of conventional vs

will always stay because people have a certain perception and image in their mind. However, he added that that is the struggle and it will always be there.
