Nawazuddin Siddiqui, this name is synonymous with versatility and an untapped well of sheer talent. Over the years, the actor has given Indian cinema some of the finest characters from every shade. From being ‘Faizal’ in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ to the serial killer in ‘Raman Raghav 2.0,’ he aced in every role. Moreover, the actor is among those lucky ones who had the lifetime opportunity of working with the legendary artist Irrfan Khan. Recalling him in his recent interview, Nawazuddin shared how once Irrfan Khan was all set to change lanes from acting to direction.Fondly recalling one of the most beloved stars of the Indian entertainment industry, Nawaz shared that he worked with Irrfan in over eight projects. According to his Pinkvilla interview, Nawaz and Irrfan did a couple of serials together, a few films, short films, and Khan even directed Siddiqui in one of the movies.
Irrfan Khan would have given up on acting?
“Around 2002, he might have chosen direction as a career option and given up on acting, but fortunately, he found a film, and he did it. So, he directed a film with me. In that film, Sadiya Siddiqui and I were the leads. But he continued acting after that, so I have worked in some 8–10 projects with him,” Nawazuddin revealed.
Irrfan Khan’s great advice to Nawazuddin Siddiqui
In the same conversation, Nawazuddin shared one of the most valuable lessons he learnt from Irrfan Khan. He narrated how Irrfan Khan taught him “less is more.” He mentioned that once, when he was rehashing a scene with an actress, Irrfan shortened Nawazuddin's dialogue. He emphasised that the short dialogue at that particular point would lead to a greater impact and would be more fitting for the audio-visual medium.
From that very moment, Nawazuddin made sure that the philosophy of ‘less is more’ is reflected in his work.
