The Indian cricket team has been in supreme form in the ongoing Cricket World Cup. They have been unbeaten so far and are topping the points table with six victories in their first six matches. These wins have been attributed to stellar performances from the Indian top-order batters as well as their bowlers. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have emerged as the top two run-scorers for the Indian team and have played the key knocks at different stages of the tournament.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has praised Rohit Sharma for his batting and leadership during the tournament so far. As per Gambhir, Rohit is leading from the front and his runs at the top are setting the perfect template for the rest of the side.
“Leader – the thing he wants from the team, he does it himself. If you expect positive batting from your teammates, you have to do it yourself. This act – leading from the front – you have to do it yourself. No kind of PR or marketing agency can do it for you,” Gautam Gambhir said on Start Sports.
In India’s last match against England, Rohit Sharma played a key role when he top scored with 87 runs on a tricky pitch as India posted a total of 229/9. The Indian bowlers then stepped up and bowled out England for a mere 129.
During this innings, Rohit achieved a significant milestone in his career, becoming the fifth Indian batter to surpass 18,000 international runs, a list previously graced by Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli.
Gambhir also said that rankings do not really matter and that Rohit was more focused on the collective goal of winning the World Cup.
“If your aim is to hit a ton, then you play that way. But if aim is to win the World Cup, then a selfless captain, like the way Rohit Sharma has batted, I expect him to do that more,” Gambhir added.
India have been unbeaten in the tournament so far and they will now take on Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
