District Magistrate office of Patna
has issued notice extending the closure of schools till
January 20
, 2024.
In a notice shared by ANI on the
social media platform
X, the District Magistrate has ordered that all educational activities up to class 8 will remain closed till January 20, 2024- owing to the persistent cold wave in the region, and the potential health risk it poses for school-goers.
The notice stated, "Cold weather and low temperatures still continue in the district, due to which the health and life of children are likely to be adversely affected. Therefore, District Magistrate, Patna, under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, all the private and government schools (pre-school and Anganwadi) of Patna district I extend the ban imposed on educational activities up to class 8 till 20.01.2024." The notice further stated that all educational activities for class 9 and above will be held between the hours 9AM to 3:30PM. "As per earlier orders, educational activities of classes above class 9 will be banned before 09:00 AM and after 03:30 PM. Operation of special classes with adequate precautions for mission efficiency and board exams will remain free from this" the notice reads.
