Rajesh Khanna was the first true superstar of Bollywood, with a nation-wide fanbase that adored him. In an interview with ANI, Murad recalled how the actor would gift his friends bungalows and cars, an extraordinary act of kindness. "Unka joh apna lifestyle tha, packup ke baad unke ghar mei roz dawat hoti thi. Bahut hi bada unka dil tha. He was a very big-hearted man. Khilane, pilane mei, apne dosto ko bungalows gift kiye hai, gaadiyan gift ki hai," Murad said.

He continued by describing how Khanna’s home was always a place of laughter, food, and endless fun. The superstar’s lifestyle was all about indulgence and carefree enjoyment and the parties were the stuff of legends. “Aap ek baar aaye toh unki marzi se alvida keh sakte hai. Aur phir parties chalti thi, subah 5 baje dinner serve hota tha, phir 6 baje woh sote thei. 1-2 baje uthte thei, phir taiyar hoke 3-4 baje aa jate thei,” he shared.

Rajesh Khanna’s approach to time
Despite his enormous success and popularity, Rajesh was often seen as someone who didn’t strictly adhere to time. Known for his late arrivals on movie sets, his punctuality was something that fellow actors and filmmakers had to deal with. Murad shared that delays on set were quite common, with the actor arriving 5 to 7 hours late. “Sets used to get cancelled, and everyone had to be mentally prepared that Rajesh would never be on time,” Murad recalled. But despite the delays, Khanna’s charm and charisma were so overpowering that it never seemed to bother anyone for too long.
