Rowoon
has left the audience swooning in the newest stills from historical drama The Matchmakers. KBS2 recently unveiled the actor’s character posters and Rowoon spells royalty with his style.
The Matchmakers narrates the story of a young widower
Shim Jung Woo
, essayed by Rowoon and young widow
Jung Soon Deok
, played by Cho Yi Hyun. The drama promises to narrate the struggles that the duo experience while trying to match older single men and women in the Joseon era.
Spilling the beans on why he took up the lead character of Shim Jung Woo in The Matchmakers, Rowoon was quoted by Soompi, “I wanted to take on the challenge of the comedy genre.
Actually, I think comedy is the most difficult genre.”
Describing his role, Rowwon further added, “[Shim Jung Woo] seems to be a child-like character whose time has stopped. I think he is a person who could be seen as rude due to his honesty. There are parts where Shim Jung Woo’s words [coming] from the historical or situational background may feel a little different from [sentiments of] the current times. I tried to express those parts without making him seem hateful.”
Directed by
Hwang Seung Gi
, The Matchmakers will be aired from October 30.
