more than his sudden marriage to actress Amrita Singh in 1991. At just 21, Saif tied the knot with the actress, who was 12 years older than him. The wedding came out of nowhere—so much so that even his own mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, found out only after it was done.
While the marriage may have taken place quietly, its effects were felt loud and clear in both their personal and professional lives.
A wedding that shocked everyone
Saif and Amrita's wedding happened after a whirlwind romance, as mentioned by News18, and according to gossip at the time, even the 'Chameli Ki Shaadi' actress was left stunned by how quickly it all happened. There were rumors that the surprise marriage caused Amrita to have an emotional breakdown on the first day of shooting for her film '

But director Aziz Mirza has since cleared the air. In an interview with Radio Nasha, he said, “Nahi, kuchh nahi hua (No, nothing happened). I don’t think there was any panic. Saif used to come to set.”
Saif was fired from a film for being late
Even though he was starting out in the industry, Saif’s new marriage didn’t go unnoticed—especially when it came to work. According to Aziz Mirza, around the time of the wedding, Saif was actually removed from a film by director H.S. Rawail because of being late.
Mirza recalled, “Mashallah, he did very well in life; he was thrown out of a film by, I think, HS Rawail. He came to RK Studio and said, ‘I’ve been fired from the film’ because he turned up late or something.”
It was a tough moment, especially so early in his career. But rather than giving up, Saif kept going.

Aziz Mirza: ‘He’s made his own career.’
Despite the early bumps, Aziz Mirza had nothing but praise for Saif and the way he built his career from the ground up. “He’s a lovely chap. He’s made his own career; he’s excellent. He did a lot of good work in a lot of films.”
And it’s true. Saif may have had a rocky start, but his journey is a clear example of how hard work and persistence can pay off.
