parted ways with Sohail Khan last year. The couple was married for 24 years and Seema had first spoken about problems in her marriage with Sohail on 'The Fabulous Lives Of
Bollywood Wives
'. Seema recently opened up on her divorce with Sohail on her podcast and said that she had read a lot of nasty comments where people said she 'used' the name of the Khan family for fame and personal goals and divorced Sohail when she no longer needed it.
She added that she belonged to a family where the school of thought of her father was, 'now who will look after my daughter' because there's a lot of stigma attached to divorce.
Moreover, Seema started reading mean comments on social media and wondered where they came from. Having said that, there were people who were really nice to her and so, she chose to focus on those comments to keep herself motivated.
She further added, that in her case divorce was just a piece of paper because they lived separately for quite a few years and it was fine. Her son
Nirvaan
was going to school and he would have many conversations with her. When he went to the university, he told her, 'Mumma, I'm okay now, you can go ahead.' That's when she decided that now was the time to get divorced. It was just paperwork.
Seema further clarified speculations that she divorced Sohail because of some other woman. People said such things but that's not the truth. She confessed that she made a choice because two people were in a situation where neither of them were happy. When there is constant fighting, the kids suffer. One doesn't realise the damage which they've done on the kids while fighting. Hence, it was a conscious decision that she took.
The fashion designer said she has finally reached a place where she no longer pays attention to mean comments, but it has been a long hard journey to reach a point where she's not affected anymore.
