‘It’s childish to target someone over language’

Janhvi Kapoor has frequently found herself at the receiving end of criticism for her Hindi diction. Despite her parents, late legendary actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, doing everything they could to help her with the language before her debut, the trolling hasn’t stopped. However, actor Om Puri’s ex-wife, Seema Kapoor, who was once Janhvi’s

Seema Kapoor: 'It's immature to troll someone for their language'
In a recent interview with Galatta India, Seema Kapoor opened up about her brief but memorable stint as Janhvi’s Hindi tutor. She recalled being introduced to Sridevi and Boney Kapoor through filmmaker Rumi Jaffery. Sharing her thoughts on the actress’s journey, Seema said, "I feel very happy seeing how far Janhvi has come. I played only a very small role in her career. She’s a hard-working and sincere girl.

is like my brother; he's a very well-known writer in the industry. He recommended my name to Boney Kapoor and Sridevi, because my Hindi is quite refined."
Seema also revealed that she had encouraged Janhvi to write more, believing it would help her express herself better. Responding to the social media trolling Janhvi has faced over the years, Seema remarked, "I think it’s childish and immature to target someone over their language. It's not like I can speak French or German. Language is a form of expression; before language, we used to communicate through hand gestures, and we survived, didn't we?"

"Sri ji and Boney ji asked how much I'd charge as fees, and I said, 'Ghar ke bachche…' And it's not like I’m a professional teacher. I was going through a difficult period in my own life back then, and this took my mind off my troubles," she shared.

Seema Kapoor recently released her memoir, Yoon Guzri Hai Ab Talak, which she launched at the Indian Women’s Press Corps on April 17. The book offers a candid look into some of the most intimate chapters of her life.
