The October gold contract on the MCX soared past the landmark ₹1 lakh mark, reaching a record ₹1,00,484 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the June and August contracts also climbed to new highs, trading at ₹99,178 and ₹99,800, respectively. On the international front, spot gold hit a historic peak of $3,500.05 per ounce before easing slightly. This sharp rise in prices has sparked renewed discussions about where gold is headed next.

Adding a lighter touch to the situation, a vintage clip from the 1989 movie 'Guru' resurfaced online, featuring Shakti Kapoor as a villain. In the memorable scene, Kapoor’s character dramatically predicts gold prices escalating to ₹5,000, ₹10,000, ₹60,000, and finally ₹1 lakh per tola, amusing many viewers and turning the clip into a viral sensation.

Even though the clip wasn’t precise about the measurements, it resonated strongly with people as gold reached new record prices. On X (formerly Twitter), a user shared the meme and humorously called Kapoor “India’s first economist” because he seemed to have “predicted” gold’s rise well before experts did. Reflecting the lighthearted spirit online, one user joked, “If only Shakti’s prophecy turns true, and gold really hits Rs 1 lakh per tola.”

On the work front, Shakti Kapoor was last seen in the 2023 film 'Animal', directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. In the movie, Kapoor played the role of PK Mishra, a yesteryear gangster and the COO of Swastik Steels Corporation.
