In a heartwarming revelation veteran actor Shakti Kapoor has credited his wife,
Shivangi Kolhapure
, for the abundance and prosperity in his life. Mostly known for portraying antagonistic roles in countless movies,
Shakti
has revealed how
Shivangi
left her budding
acting career
to fulfill his desire of having a
housewife
.
Their romance began under unexpected circumstances.
While Shakti was already an established name in the film industry, Shivangi, a child artist back then, met him during a movie shoot. Notably, Shivangi is the sibling of yesteryear's heroine
Padmini Kolhapure
. Despite being 12 years younger than Shakti, their bond was immediate. "We met, felt a deep connection, and it was evident we were falling for each other. Finding such a wonderful and homely girl was a rarity, and I couldn't let go," reminisced Shakti while speaking on a podcast.
However, as their relationship deepened, Shakti sensed that his professional commitments were taking a backseat. Alarmed that this could derail his career, he expressed his concerns to Shivangi, which initially met with disdain. Matters further complicated when Shivangi began receiving film offers, one of which was Sawan Kumar Tak’s 'Laila'. Shakti recalled the distressing times, drawing a parallel to the legendary love story of Laila-Majnu, saying, "As the Majnu of her life, I was consumed with worry."
In a heartfelt confession, the 'Chalbaaz' actor recalled how he approached Shivangi, earnestly requesting her to forgo her budding career for their love. Their decision to marry was swift, executed through a court marriage due to their families' initial reservations. Celebrating four decades of marital bliss, Shakti said, "She sacrificed her professional aspirations for our love. Today, I still bow in gratitude. Her presence amplified the success and prosperity in my life, blessing us with two wonderful children."
Shakti Kapoor heaps praises on Kumar Sanu, shared an anecdote from 30 years ago
After their marriage in 1982, the couple was blessed with a son Siddhant, and daughter Shraddha Kapoor, both of whom pursued acting. Previously, Shakti had elaborated on the challenges they faced as a couple. The stark cultural differences and his on-screen portrayal of negative characters caused skepticism about his real-life persona. It took the birth of their first child, Siddhant, to finally melt the ice, leading to Shivangi's parents accepting and embracing their union.
