, according to a statement from the state government on Wednesday. The confrontation occurred when a group of assailants opened fire on a local police station in

General Teran

, a small municipality located about 100 km southeast of Monterrey, according to

news agency.

Following the initial shooting, a combined response involving the

state police

’s civil force, the

national guard

, and the army was launched to track down the attackers. During the operation, law enforcement captured a 30-year-old man identified as Alejandro "N," following the country's rules for naming accused individuals.
Authorities believe the attackers were affiliated with a criminal organisation called '

Tamaulipas

', operating from Nuevo Laredo, near the Texas border. According to local media, the state security minister did not specify the group's name, although experts have indicated that the

Northeast Cartel

is active in the region.
The search for the remaining criminals continued after the arrests. Authorities soon encountered a convoy of about eight trucks filled with armed men along a highway east of Monterrey. A firefight ensued as the authorities pursued the vehicles, resulting in the deaths of 11 alleged criminals. No security personnel sustained injuries during the encounter.
In the aftermath of the clash, six pick-up trucks were confiscated by law enforcement, although it was reported that two of the trucks managed to flee the scene.
