The Sony Xperia 1 VII builds on the legacy of the 1-series with improvements to the camera hardware and software, a new flagship chipset and a design that doesn’t follow fads.
First up, this two-and-a-half minute video showcases new features like Position Lock and Auto Framing, which are easier to show than explain. The new 48MP 16mm ultra-wide camera is the center of attention here.
Next, this video goes into more details on Position Lock, which uses human pose estimation to automatically keep people in the center, as well as the AI Camerawork feature.
The following video focuses on Auto Framing, which does tracking as well and records two videos at once – one showing the whole scene, the other cropping in for a close-up of the subject.
These new features on the Xperia 1 VII are powered by AI, which is the focus of this video – AI is tasked with everything from exposure control to Eye autofocus, in addition to the Position Lock and Auto Framing features mentioned above. It’s not just the camera, though, AI also upscales audio (DSEE Ultimate) and remasters video for the Bravia display.
