Spartan College shooting: Suspect arrested after shooting injures two at Inglewood; watch video

A gunman was arrested Friday after allegedly opening fire at the

Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology

in Inglewood, injuring two female employees following the on-campus shooting.
The two victims were transported to a Long Beach trauma facility in critical condition, a L A County Fire Department representative said.
According to the Los Angeles Times, at 3:39 pm, Inglewood police officers arrived at 8911 Aviation Blvd. following reports of gunfire.
Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr. confirmed that authorities detained a male suspect in Koreatown at approximately 5:45 p.m.

The arrest was made by LAPD after Inglewood police distributed the suspect's vehicle and registration details to partner organisations.

The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, is thought to be a former employee, according to Butts. He noted that the individual was carrying a rifle and dressed in attire similar to security personnel uniform.
Both victims were confirmed as college employees, though their positions and the circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear.

"The crime motive was related to the employment at the school," said Butts, a 19-year veteran of the Inglewood Police Department.
"It was not a random act of violence," he added. Investigators also recovered a 9mm shell casing from the premises.
Officers spent over an hour conducting a room-by-room search for the suspect or additional victims, finding none. Inglewood police declared the campus clear at approximately 5:15 p.m.
Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology's Inglewood facility serves as a vocational institution focusing on aviation maintenance education.
Situated one mile from Los Angeles International Airport, the institution provides an 18-month diploma and a 22-month associate degree programme, training students in aircraft component repair and system maintenance in preparation for Federal Aviation Authority certification examinations.
