The Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Jawan' completed 50 successful days at the box office this week, extending its record as the highest-earning Hindi film.
In a delightful revelation, director Atlee shared that this casting was possible only because of his leading man. In an interview with Filmfare, the director revealed that Shah Rukh had personally approached Deepika to play the part of Aishwarya in the film.

Opening up about casting DP for the extended cameo, Atlee revealed that he had first discussed the idea with SRK's manager and sought her opinion on approaching Deepika. Atlee recounted, "Then Shah Rukh sir said, ‘I’ve already spoken to her; she’s interested. She will do it, let her get free. Then we’ll go and narrate; if she feels merit, she will definitely do it.'"

At the time, Deepika was filming her sci-fi film 'Kalki 2898 AD' with Prabhas in Hyderabad, which prompted the director to fly down to discuss the project. However, to his surprise, Deepika declined the offer to hear the film's narration and insisted it was 'unnecessary' saying, "You don’t have to narrate it to me. I’m coming."
He went on to add that on his persistence, the actress heard the script and expressed her shock over the length of her 'cameo'. "Oh! This is a very solid character. Oh my God," she said and promptly agreed to be a part of the film.

Praising his actress, Atlee said, "She’s something else."
'Jawan' marked Shah Rukh and Deepika's 5th film collaboration. They first starred together in the 2006 film 'Om Shanti Om', which also marked the actress' Bollywood debut.

What! Before Nayanthara, 'Jawan's director Atlee approached Samantha Ruth Prabhu to play the female lead in the movie?
