Suhana Khan and Abhay Verma begin 'King' movie shoot without Shah Rukh Khan; superstar to join production later

Amidst rumours of delays, it has been reported that 'King', headlined by Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan, has officially gone on floors, however, without the King himself. After several factors contributed to the film's delay in the original production schedule, new reports on Mid-Day state that the Sidharth Anand directorial which was initially set to begin on May 16, has now commenced at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studio. While Shah Rukh is yet to join the production, Suhana and Abhay Verma, who shot to fame with his 2024 horror film Munjya, have begun shooting key portions of the film. The report states that Verma was originally scheduled to begin filming around June or July, but a last-minute change in the schedule reportedly kickstarted his shoot early. Both Abhay and Suhana have begun filming their portions of the movie this week, while SRK is expected to join in a few weeks later and shoot his epic entry scene. Although the shoot has only just begun, reports previously stated that Anand has already shot several action sequences — including some involving the superstar’s body double.Besides getting the cameras ready to roll, the makers are also reportedly going all out to make sure that tight security measures are implemented on the film sets to prevent parts of the shoot from leaking online. These include intense scenes, particularly some action-heavy sequences being filmed in Bandra.King marks the first time Shah Rukh will share the big screen with his daughter Suhana. The father-daughter duo previously appeared together in a commercial directed by Aryan Khan.

Suhana made her acting debut in 2023 with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies on Netflix.Meanwhile, King is also set to star Deepika Padukone in a significant role, while Rani Mukerji is reportedly playing Suhana’s mother. Abhishek Bachchan is also rumoured to play the antagonist in the film that also includes Anil Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, and Jackie Shroff.

Produced on a grand scale, King is expected to hit theatres in 2026.
