He didn’t even come to my wedding,” she shared. Her father, wary of the film world, had hoped she would marry someone outside the industry. “He knew what goes around in the film industry, he wanted me to marry a businessman. He had even selected a boy for me in Holland but mera pyaar sacha tha,” she said. “That childhood love is like that, we both loved each other a lot.” Speaking about their current equation, Sunita hinted at an unseen strain in their bond. “Pata nahi kis ki nazar lag gayi,” she said light-heartedly, before adding with determination, “I won’t let anyone take my husband away from me.”

In a separate interaction with Hauterfly, Sunita had previously acknowledged the ups and downs they’ve faced in their 40-year marriage, especially when it comes to trust. Offering advice to other women, she said, “Don’t ever say that your partner is innocent (doesn’t cheat). If he does it, it will become so bad and no matter how hard you try to get rid of the other woman, she won’t leave him for years.” Referring to her own experience, she added, “Now, it has been 40 years. When it happened, then I endured it.”
