'The Diplomat' faces competition from Chhaava, L2 Empuraan

 The John Abraham starrer earns Rs 70 lakh on 2nd Thursday as it faces competition from 'L2 Empuraan' and 'Chhaava'

John Abraham's film 'The Diplomat' has now completed its second week. The film is based on a true event and is a story of an Indian girl who gets rescued from Pakistan with the help of a Government official. John plays the role of diplomat JP Singh in the movie and has been getting a lot of love for it. The movie had an opening of Rs 4 crore on its opening day but has continued to remain steady due to positive word of mouth. Infact, it saw a good growth on the second weekend and made more than Rs 5 crore as a total on second Saturday and Sunday. Since Monday onwards, the film has seen a consecutive drop in the business.

It ends week two with Rs 70 lakhs on Thursday

According to Sacnilk, by the end of week 1, the movie had collected Rs 19.15 crore. But it saw a good growth over the second Saturday and Sunday. While it made Rs 2.5 crore on Saturday, the collection on Sunday was Rs 2.75 crore. However, there was a huge drop on second Monday and the movie made only Rs 90 lakhs. Further it saw more drop on Tuesday, day 12. It earned 85 lakhs. On Wednesday, which is day 13, the movie dropped further and made Rs 75 lakhs. On Thursday, it made Rs 70 lakhs. Competition from 'L2 Empuraan' and 'Chhaava'
The movie is now facing competition from the new release 'L2: Empuraan', apart from 'Chhaava'. Though the new film starring Mohanlaal and Prithviraj Sukumaran is doing well in Malayalam and not as much in the Hindi language. 'L2: Empuraan' which released on Thursday, March 27, has made Rs 22 crore on its opening day in all languages. Meanwhile, 'Chhaava' has made Rs 1.40 crore on Thursday which is day day 42. The total collection of the movie so far is around Rs 589 crore.
