Past few releases of
Tiger Shroff
haven’t exactly performed exceedingly well at the box office and a lot was expected for Ganapath- A hero is born. But hopes of the film doing that are diminishing with every passing day, the film which opened to just Rs 2.5 crore, lowest day 1 collection for a Tiger Shroff film collected even less on day 2. As per Sacnilk, the film on day 2 collected just Rs 2.25 crore, a 10 percent drop in its collection, which takes the two day collection of the film to Rs 4.75 crore.
A tweet from the X handle of Sacnilk.com read: "#Ganapath dropped on its second day - Early Estimates - 2.25 Cr. Net Two Days Total - 4.75 Cr. Big Disappointment!" The film recorded just 10 percent occupany on Saturday.
The Vikas Bahl directorial boasts of action and a futuristic theme and had paired Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon for the first time since their debut in
Heropanti
back in 2014. The film received mixed to poor reviews but there was a hope that audiences, especially children would connect with the theme of the film but it doesn’t seem to be happening right now.
On the day of therelease, Tiger Shroff had visited the Siddhivinayak Temple to offer prayers and seek blessings and a day before the release, a star-studded screening of the film was organized and it saw names like Jackie Shroff, Asha Bhosle, Anupam Kher,
Suniel Shetty
, Ananya Panday,
Sikander Kher
, Hema Malini, Kajol, Rakul Preet Singh, Chunky Panday to Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Shanaya Kapoor and many others in attendance.
Another aspect of the low performance of the film has been its very subdued promotions, the makers it seems were not interested in promoting the film. In fact, at a latest event for the film’s promotion, only Tiger was spotted as Kriti Sanon was on her way to Delhi to collect her Best Actress National Award for Mimi. Let’s hope Sunday collections show some spike but that seems difficult as India would be facing New Zealand at the World Cup today.
