Tom Cruise appreciates Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, who share two kids, were married from 1990 to 2001. In a recent interview with the
British Film Institute
's Sight and Sound magazine, the Maverick actor reminisced about the memories he shared with his former wife on the film set.
While discussing the 1999 film ‘Eyes Wide Shut,’ Tom recalled how he flew to Stanley Kubrick’s house and made a key casting suggestion. “It was basically he and I getting to know each other,” the 62-year-old actor said, according to Deadline. “And when we were doing that, I suggested Nicole play the role [of Alice]. Because obviously she’s a great actress,” he added.
While they worked hard to establish the tone of the film, Tom and Kidman eventually starred as Bill Harford and Alice Harford. “It was a very unique experience – not a large crew,” Tom said to the magazine. “We arrived in the summer, and basically we just started testing ... the script was just an idea. We [were] constantly rewriting the scenes and shooting the scenes and then reshooting the scenes to really find the tone of the film,” he added.
Nicole Kidman recalled shooting for the film
Previously, Nicole Kidman expressed about the film in a 2020 interview with The New York Times. Kidman recalled that despite the dark tone of the film, Tom and she found a way to lighten the mood on the set. “We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at 3 in the morning,” the 57-year-old actress stated.
