What’s next?
With the Prelims stage cleared, the focus now shifts to the UPSC ESE Mains 2025, which is scheduled to be held on August 10, 2025. Unlike the objective-type questions in the prelims, the mains exam will test candidates through descriptive, written papers. These papers are based on the candidate’s chosen engineering discipline — Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics & Telecommunication — and are designed to assess in-depth conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.
The mains exam will consist of two conventional (written) papers, each carrying 300 marks. Both papers are of three hours’ duration and require strong command over subject theory, application, and presentation. Candidates should focus on structured answer writing, drawing diagrams where applicable, and explaining technical concepts clearly.
UPSC ESE mains admit card 2025
UPSC is expected to release the ESE Mains admit cards in the first week of August, most likely between August 3 and August 4, 2025. Admit cards will be available for download at upsc.gov.in. Candidates must keep checking the website regularly and ensure their exam center details, photo, and signature are correctly printed on the hall ticket.
