Sharing the visual on Instagram, the makers paid tribute to Sambhaji Maharaj’s coronation anniversary: “On 16th January 1681, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s Rajyabhishek ceremony marked the beginning of a legendary legacy! 344 years later, we bring his story of unshaken courage and glory to life. #ChhaavaTrailer out on 22nd January! The producers, known for backing the box-office hit 'Stree 2', will mark their foray into the grand historical genre with 'Chhaava'. Helmed by acclaimed director Laxman Utekar, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in pivotal roles. The plot delves into the journey of Sambhaji Maharaj, who ascended the Maratha throne in 1681, continuing the legacy of his father, the renowned Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Known as "Chhaava," meaning “lion’s cub,” Sambhaji’s era was characterised by his relentless efforts against the Mughal Empire and his enduring courage.
Kaushal’s portrayal features intricate period costumes and regalia that bring the era to life on screen. The film is expected to chronicle Sambhaji’s military strategy, political acumen, and resilience amid constant battles.
