Amid growing outrage over the

rape and murder

of a woman trainee doctor in Kolkata, veteran actor

Ashish Vidyarthi

has strongly condemned the incident and expressed deep sorrow over the terrifying crime.
Speaking to

ETimes

, Vidyarthi said, "It was very unfortunate, whatever happened was really bad. It was terrible, no matter where it happened. There's nothing more to say about it.

Now, if you want to blame someone, I don't know who to blame, but it was really bad and it shouldn't happen anywhere. That's it."
When asked what advice he would give to change the mindset of people to prevent such incidents, Vidyarthi, the National Award-winning actor, traveler, and motivational speaker, added, "The advice is basically that if we understand the importance of creating a safe environment, whether it's for education or understanding, everyone should have a safe environment. If that doesn't happen, such bad things will keep happening. And whatever happens, to whomever it happens, it's really wrong. Therefore, ensuring

safety

, enforcing the law, and taking whatever measures are necessary that people are aware of those. Whoever is responsible should be

punished

, but it's really, really wrong."
