: Bloody Sweet has stormed the box office and it broke the record for the highest day 1 opening box office collection for an Indian film when it made more than Rs 148 crore across the globe. It was expected the film to continue on its good start on day 2 but the film seemed to be on a slightly sticky wicket, as it saw a fall of nearly 40 to 45 % as it collected Rs 35.25 crore on day 2 but on day 3 the film managed to improve its collection by about 20 % as it collected Rs 40 crore as per Sacnilk based on early estimates, which takes the total India collection of the film to Rs 140 crore.
The film had managed to collect Rs 64.8 crore on its day 1 despite not being able to secure release in National chain multiplexes.
Though Thalapathay Vijay was able to beat Shah Rukh Khan’s
Jawan
on multiple fronts from securing maximum shows in the USA to having the highest opening for an Indian film on day 1 but it failed to beat him when it came to day 1, day 2 and day 3 collections in India. Jawan had collected Rs 75 crore on day 1 , Rs 53. 23 crore on day 2 and Rs 74.50 on day 3 across languages taking its grand total Rs 202.73 crore.
Trade is of the opinion that had the makers of the film released the film in National chains, the film’s collection would have drastically improved and would have been in the same vicinity as Jawan. But since makers and theater owners couldn’t come on the same page, the makers decided to go ahead with just single screens and non-national multiplexes. Despite all this, the film is still going strong and is looking at a strong Sunday collection, it has an estimated advance booking of Rs 22 crore.
