Virat Kohli turned 35 years old on 5 November, 2023. Kohli, one of the greatest cricketers of all time, will be looking to add to his ever-growing records list on the day when India face South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Kohli can equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record for 49 ODI centuries if he reaches the milestone in the World Cup fixture on Sunday. Kohli had fallen short of doing so at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai earlier in the week against Sri Lanka.

Before taking the field, Kohli’s former teammate Yuvraj Singh posted a beautiful message on Instagram. Yuvraj revealed in the post that everyone felt Kohli was destined for greatness when he was coming up the ranks in domestic cricket and then age level national teams.

“When you joined the team as a youngster who was eager for opportunities and hungry to perform, it was clear to everyone that you were destined for greatness. You’ve not only made a mark for yourself but have also inspired countless others to strive for excellence,” Yuvraj Singh wrote in his post.

“As you celebrate another year of breaking and setting records, take a moment to reflect on all that you’ve achieved. Proud to have shared this incredible journey with you, and to see you grow from strength to strength,” Yuvraj further added in his post on Instagram.

Yuvraj and Kohli had shared the dressing room when India won the World Cup in 2011. While Yuvraj was the Player of the Tournament, Kohli also made a mark as a youngster with 282 runs from nine matches.

Now a senior member of the Indian cricket team, and a permanent fixture in the lineup, Kohli has taken to the World Cup in scintillating form. Kohli, now 35, is the leading run-scorer for India this year. If India do go on to lift the trophy on 19 November, Kohli will become the first player to win the ODI World Cup twice.
